Editorial policy

This page shows the kind of editorial policy a newsroom on Pulse can publish. It is sample text for a fictional publication.

Accuracy

We check facts before we publish. Figures come with a source, and we say clearly when information is provisional or comes from a single source.

Independence

Our reporting is not influenced by advertisers. Sponsored content, if any, is labelled as such at the top of the page.

Sourcing

We prefer named sources. When we use an anonymous source, we explain why and how we verified the information.

Bylines and dates

Every story carries the name of the writer or desk, the time it was first published and the time it was last updated.

Use of tools

Editors may use software to check spelling, suggest headlines or draft translations. A human editor reviews every word before it is published.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. See our corrections policy.
